"Bread, Love, Pray"

I was watching this Korean Drama - a very touching story about a young man who is always grateful of what he has.  One of the conversations that really touched me was when the best friend of this young man asked him,
" How could you do that?  How could you keep smiling when you have lost your father, your mother, been kicked out from the house and you even lost your girl friend  - are you okay with that or are you simply a fool?"
" No, "  the young man replied," I am not okay with that.  I can feel the anger, I am anguish and I feel the pain too.  But I have to live on...  As long as I live on, nothing ends.   My life doesn't end on a bad day.  My life doesn't end either on a good day.  No matter what happens, my life lives on..."

Beautiful words, aren't they?

I Hope You Dance
by Lee Ann Womack

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder

You get your fill to eat, but always keep that hunger

May you never take one single breath for granted

God forbid love ever leave you empty handed

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean

Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens

Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance

Hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance

Never settle for the path of least resistance

Livin' might mean takin' chances, but they're worth takin'

Lovin'might be a mistake but it's worth makin'

Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter

When you come close to sellin'out, reconsider

Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along

Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder

where those years have gone.

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean

Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens

Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance

Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along

I hope you dance

Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder

where those years have gone

I hope you dance

Hope you dance

Best Wishes from

What do you tell yourself?

The first fleeting instant during which an idea is conceived is a moment of decision! What do you tell yourself?

Do you grasp the idea with a tingle of excitement saying "I can make it work!!!" or do you smother it by saying, "That is impractical, too difficult, I don't think it can be done?"
In that moment, you choose between success or failure.
You help to form a habit of either positive or negative thinking by what you tell yourself!
So, give yourself a break...give your better self a chance to be strong!
Your success or failure depends on what you tell yourself and ACTING NOW!

10 Commandments for you and me?

A friend sent me this, have fun...
Commandments 1 - 10
Commandment 1
Marriages are made in heaven

But then again, so is thunder and lightning.
Commandment 2
If you want your wife to listen and pay strict attention to every word you say,
Talk in your sleep.
Commandment 3
Marriage is grand - and divorce is at least a 100 grand!
Commandment 4
Married life is very frustrating.
In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens.
In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens.
In the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen.
Commandment 5

When a man opens the door of his car for his wife, you can be sure of one thing:
Either the car is new or the wife is.

Commandment 6
Marriage is when a man and woman become as one;
The trouble starts when they try to decide which one.
Commandment 7
Before marriage, a man will lie awake all night thinking about something you said.
After marriage, he will fall asleep before you finish.
Commandment 8
Every man wants a wife who is beautiful, understanding, economical, and a good cook.
But the law allows only one wife.
Commandment 9
Marriage and love are purely a matter of chemistry.
That is why one treats the other like toxic waste.
Commandment 10
A man is incomplete until he is married. After that, he is finished.
Bonus Commandment Story
A long married couple came upon a wishing well.
The wife leaned over, made a wish and threw in a penny.
The husband decided to make a wish too.
But he leaned over too much, fell into the well, and drowned.
The wife was stunned for a moment,
But then smiled,  “It really works!”

To Sir With Love

This is a true story as told by Barbara A. Glanz.
“The Simple Truths of Appreciation” from the Simple Truth

   -  how each of us can choose to make a difference

In my speeches and workshops,

I sometimes ask my audiences to shut their eyes, and think about someone who,

At some time in their lives,

Has rekindled their inner light.

It is always a profound experience for everyone as they remember the joy they received from being appreciated by someone when they needed it the most.

After one session, a gentleman thanked her for creating a new awareness.

He had immediately thought of his eighth grade literature teacher who had really made an impact on his life.

He planned to track her down and thank her.

A few months later, he called me to say he’d written to his teacher.

She’d gotten his letter, and the following week she sent him her response,
“ Dear John,
You will never know how much your letter meant to me. I am 83 yrs.old and I’m living all alone in one room. My friends are all gone. My family’s gone. I taught for 50 yrs and yours is the first ‘thank you’ letter I’d ever gotten from a student. Sometimes I wonder what I did with my life, I would read and reread your letter until the day I die.”
He was very emotional on the phone.

He said, “ She’s always the one we talk about at every reunion.”
“She was everyone’s favorite teacher.”
“We loved her!”
“But no one has ever told her….”
…..until she received his letter.”
Mother Teresa said, “ Kindness is a language we all understand. Even the blind can see it and the deaf can hear it.”

Thank someone who’d touched your life Today!

Have you ever hesitated about telling someone whom you appreciate very much? Please don't. Here's why..

Hai there,  how are you all getting on?  I have an Extra Ordinary Sweet Day  today when an old friend called up.  It has been a long break and it is nice indeed to hear from her again.  What touched me the most was when she said,  " You know what, whenever I need help, I think of you instantly - something in me tells me that you are the most trusted friend I have ever had."
And my response, "  Vic, this is the nicest thing that you have said to me.  I am truly grateful!!!"

SEE, THIS KIND OF MESSAGE, THOUGH SPOKEN ONCE ONLY, STAYS WITH YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!

So, please don't hold back, go ahead and tell someone that you appreciate him/her and watch how you have made their days!

Jack, can you explain a little about the difference between feedback and road blocks, considerations, and fears? - Gayle

How do I move on after I have hurt someone, apologized and the apologies weren't accepted? - Patricia

I am a homebuilder and I tend to feel intimidated asking my clients to pay for legitimate change orders and extras. I would like to overcome this sensation of dread that comes over me when I have to approach clients for payment. Any suggestions? - Yigal

Excerpt from Pulling together....by John Murphy , from the Simple Truths

While the author of the following is unknown, "Lessons From the Geese" is a powerful illustration from nature of the rules of high performance teamwork

As geese flap their wings, they create an uplift for the bird following. By flying in a V formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if any bird were to fly alone.

Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to fly alone, and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front.

When the lead goose gets tired, it rotates back into formation and another goose flies at the point position.

When a goose gets sick or wounded or is shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down to help and protect it. They stay with it until it is able to fly again or dies. They then launch out on their own, with another formation or catch up with the flock.

If we have as much sense as geese, we too will stand by each other in difficult times, as well as when we are strong. Let us all try to fly in formation and remember to drop back to help those who might need

The greatest accomplishments in life are not achieved by individuals alone, but by proactive people pulling together for a common good

People are not given life to simply take from one another. We are here to give. Our mission in life is to offer our gifts to benefit one another, to create mutual gain in the world. This is called teamwork, a win/win mindset stemming from a genuine commitment to the rules that allow it to happen.

Today, I am grateful to have learnt from The Geese.

What is the MOST IMPORTANT thing in your life?

I was watching National Geography Documentary interviewing an American who was kidnapped and almost executed if not for the Kidnappers' Translator's quick move to save his life.  The American was desperate and tried to befriend the Translator by asking him, " What is the most important thing in your life?"
The Translator answered," My children."
" Do they know what you have been doing?" The American asked
The Translator stared at him and walked away.
The day the Translator unlocked his padlock and showed him the escape route, the American asked, " Why? Why do you risk your life and family to save me? "
He replied, " Because we are all brothers under the same GOD."

The American later recalled and admitted to himself that he wasn't sure if he would do the same thing if he were in his position.......

To The Best Husband in this world , " Happy Birthday, Dunstan."

I want to dedicate this time of the year to my beloved husband. Hoping to do it in a different way, I scanned through the past birthday cards that we have exchanged and these are what I have always loved and cherished ,
" I love our quiet times,
  just the Two of Us,
  sharing a dinner,
  reading the papers,
  watching TV -
When we can express our love , without saying a word.
  I love Our Special Times,
  when we are together,
  with family and friends,
celebrating a holiday, a birthday, or nothing in particular
the times when we can both enjoy
the happiness in the lives of those we love.
Quiet Times or Special Times - I love All our times together,
 because I love you."
dated 23rd May, 1990 from me to you.

"You may have added a year, just keep your little 'trap' shut and sure, it doesn't show! "
Rememeber this card that you wrote in 1990?

" For my dear husband, a man who has given me so much happiness. Thank you, on this your special day. "

You are always in my mind!  We love you!

Part III : What is it that makes me better?

Finally, The Wiseman said,

"Take care of your THOUGHTS because they become WORDS.
Take care of your WORDS because they become ACTIONS.
Take care of your ACTIONS because they become HABITS.
Take care of your HABITS because they form your CHARACTERS.
Take care of your CHARACTERS because it will form your DESTINY,
and your DESTINY will be your LIFE."
- and -
" There is no religion higher than the TRUTH."

Monday, May 17, 2010

What is it that makes me better?

The Wise Man continued,

" Remember, the Universe is the echo of our actions and our thoughts."

" The lAW OF ACTION and REACTION is not exclusively for the Physics. It is also of human relations. If I act with goodness, I will receive goodness. If I act with evil, I will receive evil.

" What our grandparents told us is the pure truth. You will always have what you desire for others. Being happy is not a matter of destiny. It is a matter of OPTIONs.

....to be continued

Saturday, May 15, 2010

What is it that makes me better?

A Wise and Holy Man , when asked the above question, responded by saying,
" Whatever makes you more compassionate,
more sensible,
more detached,
more loving,
more humanitarian,
more responsible,
more ethical.
The religion that will do that for you is the best religion."
He continued,
" I'm not interested about your religion, or you are religious or not.
What is really important to me is your behaviour in front of your peers, family,
work, community, and in front of the world."
I love the last part when he said."....

" I don’t know what makes me happy or what my skills and talents are. Is this normal and how do I get past this to start applying the Law of Attraction?
"I have diabetes and I’ve tried visualized myself healthy, using affirmations and also watching funny movies as advised in The Secret, but it doesn’t help, what should I do?”

"There are TWO great days in a person's life - the day we are born and the day we discover why" - William Barclay

3 years ago, I had not a single clue of 'my very existence' in this world. I had never understood the meaning of "life"or "living in the present moment" until I stumbled upon this book , "The Secret". One of the co-authors featured in the book was Mr. Jack Canfield. It was this part of what he said caught my full attention -
He said, "Think of a car driving through the night. The headlights only go a hundred to two hundred feet forward, and you can make it all the way from California to New York driving through the dark, because all you have to see is the next two hundred feet. And that's how life tends to unfold before us. If we just trust that the next two hundred feet will unfold after that, your life will keep unfolding. And it will eventually get you to the destination of whatever it is you truly want, because you want it."
The next thing I knew was I signed up for his Free Audio Programme and I have never stopped listening to him...

Making My Wish List

Hai, there, how's everyone? Have planned to reorganize my blog to add more personal touch so that we all can get to know each other better, and hopefully, we share the same appetite and you will continue to come back and give me your moral support.
Talking about moral support, I have had not received a single comment since my last few posts. I do like to write more regularly , but , I need to collect some feedback from you all so that I know that I am in the right track.
For e.g., how do you find The Mirror Exercise? Does it give you a chance to 'revisit your inner self '? The first time I tried it, I felt tears in my eyes when I said to the image in the mirror, " I appreciate you, I feel I am so blessed! "
What about you?
Tell me about it, please...please....

The Mirror Exercise

Here's an example of how to appreciate yourself:-

" Pauline, I want to appreciate you for the following things today. First I want to appreciate you for making the efforts to read 15 mins before going to bed last night and you got up early this morning to complete the household chores. And then you meditated for 15 mins before taking your morning shower. You had completed your assignment and in time to prepare lunch for your family. You had checked and replied to your emails and allowed yourself a coffee break. Oh yes, you bathed Whisky and he is one happy and clean dog. You had made arrangements with your clients prior to going off for vacation. Your plans all went well and you were able to write another post for tomorrow. You are great today! And One More Thing- and I love you !"

Remember to maintain eye contact with yourself throughout the exercise. When you have completed, look deeply into your own eyes and say," I love you." Then continue to stand there for few more seconds to really feel the impact of the experience. The trick during this last part is to not just turn away from the mirror feeling embarassed or thinking of yourself or the exercise as stupid.

This exercise becomes most powerful if you do it continuously every night for 40 days. If you realize that you have not done it, get out of bed and do it. You willl only get as much out of this exercise as you put into it.

Finally,One sensible thing to do - let your family members/friends know that you are doing this exercise every night and there won't be any SURPRISES!

I will be off for my vacation! Please tell me which part of the exercise is your favorite moment!

Do you love yourself ?

An unusual question? But really, try asking that while standing in front of a mirror! How about doing it the more effective way:-
Before you start, stand in front of a mirror, take a few seconds to look into the eyes of the person looking back at you. Then,

1) Say your name

2) Appreciate yourself for :

- achievements

- promises kept

- Temptations overcome

3) Say " I love you!" to yourself

4) Take it in, look at your mirror image, see it, feel it and believe it

5) Take a few deep breathes and then,

6) SMILE!

I find this 'Mirror Exercise' very fulfilling and rewarding. I learnt it while I took up a Home Study Course written by Mr. Jack Canfield. However, I have added on the Last Step to give one a 'mission accomplished' feelings.
Do try it out, this is one of the most simple and powerful self esteem building exercises in the world. Its purpose is to replace those negative self talks that dominate our thoughts. Will share more examples of how it can be done in my next post.
It will be most encouraging if I can hear from any one of you, do keep me company:-)

There are many things in life that catch our eyes,

Please take 5 minutes off and listen to this beautiful song "I Believe In You"

Lonely the path you've chosen

A restless road no turning back

One day you'll find your light again

Don't you know

Don't let go

Be Strong

Follow your heart

Let your love lead through the darkness

Back to a place you once knew

I believe, I believe, I believe in you

Follow your dreams

Be yourself angel of kindness

There's nothing that you cannot do,

I believe, I believe, I believe in you!!

Someday I'll find you

Someday you'll find me too

And when I hold you close

I'll know that it's true

Are you feeling better now? I am! That's why I love it!

E + R = O

i.e. Events + Response = Outcome

I was reading this book " Happy for No Reason " by Marci Shimoff and she said," People who are happy for no reason orchestrate the events in their lives when they are able to. When they're not able to change the events, they change their responses.

Can you think of an event that has upset you in the very beginning and later, you find that it turns up to be a blessing in disguise? Or perhaps the next time when you are in a traffic jam, look around you. You will notice someone clutching the steering wheel in a death grip ; another one may be humming away ; another one happily sips in his morning coffee...Same Event, Different Responses!

Today, I am happy to see that I have a new visitor from Japan -' O Genki desu ka' You are welcome to put some comments to my blog. Anyone at all, your suggestion/ideas will be much appreciated.

Starting from s-c-r-a-t-c-h

Many a time whenever I click into someone else's blog - it has never stopped me from marvelling at their creative work and the beautiful words that speak up to our heart and soul. A friend has recently shared with me her blog and I am touched! Very much inspired by her openess in telling us how she feels and misses her husband who had passed away recently. Her words make every kind soul wants to tell her that she is not alone because we won't let her, because God is always living among us, and so is her husband.
